Happy 2nd Birthday Payton!

Well, I'm almost a month late in posting about Payton's 2nd Birthday Party, maybe I'll get back on track someday! Payton's 2nd Birthday was September 4th and we had his party the day before on Saturday the 3rd. We were supposed to have his party outside at a local park but the weather didn't want to cooperate that day and we had thunderstorms and rain all day! So, we changed our plans and decided to have the party at our house, which was really no problem at all, we just run into space issues at our house. It can only hold so many people! Even though, we were in pretty close quarters, all in all, I think everyone had a great time! And that's really all that mattered. 

The theme we decided to go with for Payton's 2nd party was Mustaches, we thought it would just be fun and I think everyone enjoyed it! Here are some pictures of the party as we were setting up:

We made a balloon banner, I found the idea on Pinterest, it looked really good in real life!

Treat Bags for our little guests, they included: Disguise glasses, wooden tops, Thumbs up Stickers and Mustache Stickers:

We set up a photo booth and had props for people to take silly pictures:

I think everyone enjoyed it!

Then we had cake! I didn't make the cake, I ordered it, and it turned out great! Just what I was looking for!:

Then we opened gifts, Payton has never really gotten into opening presents, maybe someday he will, but for now it's okay, because we always have a lot of helpers!!

We had a slight melt down in the middle of opening presents because he wanted to play with one of his presents (how unreasonable!) So we had a little time out!

And then went right back into opening more presents:

We still have all the cards in his room and we look at them at least once a week!

I attempted to make him a shirt to match his party theme, it worked for the day but has pretty much fallen apart now, due to my lack of sewing skills! Maybe someday I'll actually learn how to sew!

I think all the kids had a great time!

Music is What Life Sounds Like

Payton has a ton of stuffed animals already, he's only one (almost two but still one)! I decided to try and get things under control and go through them a couple of weeks ago. I did, and do you know how many I got rid of? ZERO! I just couldn't do it! He seriously loves them all!!

I don't think it's any secret that our family loves music!! And we have appropriately passed that gene on to Payton. I'm sure you're wondering how music ties in with stuffed animals? It's because pretty much every stuffed animal has it's own song that we sing when we are playing with it. Which is another reason why it's so hard for me to get rid of any of them, because, I remember us singing with each one of them!

I'm mainly recording this because I want him to remember that when he picked up each of these animals we would remember what song went with that animal and sing it appropriately so he could dance all of the animals to the music, and we would sing this song repeatedly as many times as he wanted us to, even if that was 1,348 times! 

Some of these songs could be theme songs from shows such as Backyardigans, Phineas & Ferb, etc. Some of the songs could be just normal songs that we know from movies for example:  The bird is the word. You know it; the bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word? Not ringing a bell? Go rent Back to the Beach when you see Peewee Herman you'll know the song!

And some of them could be totally made up songs. Now you should know that I'm not a songwriter! Most of my made up songs are one liners or better yet one worders (is that a word?). For example: Snoopy's song is simply, snoopy, snoopy, snoopy, snoopy, snoopy sung to an upbeat rhythm. But if you don't sing it correctly, he'll let you know! He knows and remembers every song. So if he picks up an animal you'd better be ready to sing!

And just for the record, I would sing each song 1,348 more times if I could see that smiling face each time!!

Future in Fashion?

Here we have the Christmas in July outfit complete with stocking hat/face mask and winter boots preferably worn with short sleeves and shorts

Next up, pajamas on pajamas. You could mix this up, but here we're wearing a pajama outfit with another pair of pajama shorts on top

If you want to accessorize this outfit, just get your toothbrush! Pretend to brush your hair with it, it's a sure winner!

Last but not least, the classic pants on your head. Or in this case, shorts on your head

But let's make it a little more original and wear the shorts as a mask/blindfold. Very helpful, especially if you like tripping over and running into everything in your path!!

This kid seriously cracks me up!! I love his random outfits that he puts together and I never want to forget his silliness!! He knows how to make me laugh!

Helping Hand

We have been looking for a desk for awhile now to put in our Living room so that I can be a little better organized with things, but just haven't found exactly what we're looking for. So, my Parents gave us a desk that they had and weren't using. It isn't the color we would like it to be so we decided to paint it (we're still working on that part!).

Last night we had it out on the driveway so we could sand it, and Payton was giving us a helping hand as we took the drawers out and took all the hardware off. I think he really did think he was helping us out!!

He picked up the screwdriver Corey had laid down and just started working (tapping) away!! It was really cute to watch him work.

He was so proud of himself and having a really good time, so we just let him keep working!

Yes, we let our child play with a screwdriver!

We went ahead and sanded everything while he was working, it worked out quite nicely! Now, let's hope the paint job turns out as well; right now, it's not looking so good!!

It's Been Awhile...

It's been too long since I've updated this blog!! I'm not really sure why I haven't been keeping this updated but for some reason I just fell behind! I let a couple of weeks go and then before I knew it a month had passed and then another month and now almost another month!! Sheesh!! Then, I would just log on and stare at the screen, trying to decide where to begin with an update, but there was just too much! I could go back and past date posts but at this point even that seems like it would take too much time! So, I'm just going to post a few lot of pictures here and move on (I may go back at some point but right now I just gotta get going again!).
